Inspirational films?

If I were to ask you at this moment what you felt when you saw something so emotional or so inspiring you just couldn't help but cry, what would you say? Would you talk about the Haiti disaster? Or 9/11? Or when one of your loved ones passed away? Or even when someone has led a horrible life only to find that there is light at the end of the tunnel? This is all real. Everything. Nothing made up or set in stone. Yet, when you watch Forrest Gump you are overwhelmed with emotion of all kinds. Why? It's not real . . . or is it to you? Can you relate sending your child off to school? Or losing a loved one in a war? Or even finding love? You know it's not real, but then again you know it is.

But perhapes you have never gone through those feelings or emotions. You can still love it because maybe it inspires your mind to become a better person and love with all of your heart. How can something with a script and some special effects make you feel so different? It's strange. I however can not tell you; you can only tell yourself. And that is why movies are loved and personal because essentially . . . they are about you.

What movie has inspired you?

SHUTTER ISLAND (R for disturbing violent content, language and some nudity)

****
Teddy Daniels is a former US Marshall who was assigned to do an investigation on a missing woman at an insane asylum on the mysterious Shutter Island, but soon Teddy finds out that there is more to the island then meets the eye. Sounds like the normal story, right? That's what I thought until I watched the new rental. It was surprisingly a great thriller that was well thought out where all of the twists and turns made sense at the end! Also, I loved how the great Martin Scorsese trusted his audience to pick up clues with the slightest touch of common sense. So often you watch films where you know whats will happen and I as much as the next person enjoy those films completely (sometimes), but it is nice every once in a while to watch a film where you have to think to find the answer or at least watch the entire thriller to know the truth. Leonardo DiCaprio was incredible as the fearless Marshall, Teddy Daniels, along with the rest of his co-stars! I would SO recommend to rent the film and if you have seen it, watch it again. There are many things that you would miss in the first viewing. Hope you enjoy!

THE IMAGINARIUM OF DOCTOR PARNASSUS (PG-13 for violent images, some sensuality, language and smoking)

**
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus's plot is as confusing as the name itself. This movie truly has you saying WTFachi?! when the movie is over. I absolutely hate to blog about Heath Ledger's last film badly, but I was left with nothing more than an unattractive and confused expression on my face. The late Heath Ledger's performance was good for the little character development the film had and the actor's that replaced him (Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrel) did well to try and fill in the puzzle pieces. However, the plot left out many needed pieces to even make the story moderately okay. On the plus side the imaginarium is very colorful and interesting to look at and the story is somewhat amusing in parts. Plus, to see Ledger in his last film made you want to watch the entire film all the way through even considering the sad excuse for a story. I would not recommend the film because I think you will feel more disappointed then intrigued after watching it. But remember, the main reason for WTFachi?! is not to turn you away from a movie but to give you insight before you watch something. If you have seen it or want to watch it post any comment you would like! Myself and Fabio would much appreciate it!

THE PRINCE OF PERSIA (PG-13 for intense violence and action)

***
Is the Prince of Persia going to win thousands of Oscars and be showered with gifts of wonderfulness? No, absolutely not. But is the movie exciting and fun to watch when you want to go see a movie or if you are bored or if you have a hot date? Yes! There aren't many moments when you're wondering when it will end. And on the plus side, for the ladies, Jake Gyllenhaal is yummier than ever! I would fully say to go see it! Its fun and enjoyable and a great movie to go see with the kids! Hope you have fun!!!

CRAZY HEART (R: For Language and some sexuality)

***
I would give the Academy Award drama three out of five stars. The plot was excellent and the acting was absolutely superb in all of the cast not just Jeff Bridges! However, his performance fully deserved the winner for best actor. It is very tough to go to a movie a lot of the time and see the same thing. When you watch, for instance, "The Dark Knight." Christian Bale is giving a wonderful performance but you always have in the back of your mind the thought,"Oh yeah. Batman is Christian Bale." Where as his co-star, Heath Ledger, incredibly left you thinking he was in fact the Joker. Jeff Bridges made you believe he was a drunk, lost, but talented country singer and that made you like it all the more. Would I watch it with kids or teens . . . maybe not unless they love to sit through a long movie with nothing exciting happening, but with a beautiful story. This is a nice movie to watch when you want to watch skill or to be uplifted! Definitely watch the film; you may become bored in some parts but it truly is a great story to see!
